Gyeongnam Nuclear Power Plant Companies' First Step Export Support Project
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that from the 23rd to the 30th, it will support local nuclear power companies based in Changwon in their overseas market expansion by holding local market briefings, B2B consultations, power plant tours, and participation in the World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE) in Kazakhstan and France.
This nuclear power company support project is part of the Gyeongnam nuclear power company demand-tailored package support project, providing participating companies with actual expenses such as one-way airfare and interpretation fees.
In particular, six related organizations including Gyeongnam Province, Changwon City, Gyeongnam TP, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Korea Nuclear Power Export Industry Association, and KOTRA Gyeongnam Support Group are actively cooperating to explore export channels for nuclear power companies.
Changwon Special City supports attendance and consultations at the World Nuclear Exhibition in Kazakhstan.
View original imageAt the 2023 Nuclear Industry & Equipment Forum held on the 24th in Astana, Kazakhstan, the forum began with an opening address by the Ambassador to Kazakhstan, followed by congratulatory remarks from the Director of the Nuclear Industry Division of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy, an explanation by the Chairman of the Korea Electric Association (KEA) on "Protection of Kazakhstan’s Power Generation Market and Renewable Energy Sources," and a presentation on "Prospects for the Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Market" by the Chairman of Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP).
In the afternoon, introductions to the nuclear industry by Gyeongnam Province and Changwon City, business presentations by participating companies including Doosan Enerbility, and B2B consultations with Kazakh companies were held.
Ambassador Cho Tae-ik said, “Kazakhstan is Korea’s best trading partner,” adding, “I hope today’s forum will serve as an opportunity to build cooperative relations between the two countries, and I thank Gyeongnam Province, Changwon City, related organizations, and companies for their participation.”

Mayor Hong Nam-pyo stated, “Since Changwon Special City was selected as a candidate site for the Changwon Defense and Nuclear Convergence National Industrial Complex 2.0, we have been implementing various support projects such as establishing a rapid support center to revitalize the nuclear industry,” and added, “Through this 2023 Gyeongnam Nuclear Power Company Export First Step Support Project, I hope Changwon nuclear power companies can take a genuine first step toward overseas expansion.”
