A Disabled Man in His 30s Lost Consciousness at Changwon Indoor Swimming Pool and Died During Treatment
A man in his 30s with developmental disabilities who lost consciousness while swimming at an indoor swimming pool in Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, ultimately passed away.
According to Changwon Jungbu Police Station on the 23rd, Mr. A was found unconscious while swimming at an indoor swimming pool in Seongsan-gu around 3:20 p.m. on the 22nd.
At the time of discovery, Mr. A was floating face down on the water without consciousness.
Mr. A was urgently moved out of the water and transported to a nearby hospital by the dispatched 119 paramedics, but he eventually died.
Swimming pool staff and instructors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency treatment with an automated external defibrillator (AED) on Mr. A before the arrival of the 119 paramedics.
He, who has developmental disabilities, was reportedly at the swimming pool that day receiving lessons along with seven other disabled individuals, under the guidance of two staff members from a developmental therapy center.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by analyzing the on-site closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service. They are also questioning the swimming pool safety manager and the guides.
