Hong Seong-woo: "I Became Famous and Got into Trouble"
Hong Seong-woo, a urology specialist who recently gained attention online and in the broadcasting industry for his candid discussions about sex under the stage name 'Kkwa-chu-hyung,' has been accused of habitual verbal abuse, assault, and sexual harassment against a fellow employee.
On the 22nd, Sports Kyunghyang released an interview with Nurse A, who worked with Hong at a hospital in the past, reporting that Hong's habitual assault and sexual harassment were confirmed.
Nurse A stated, "I was subjected to verbal abuse and physical assault by Hong Seong-woo, and it made me feel like I wanted to die," adding, "The harassment lasted for six months, which caused me to feel a sense of self-loathing toward my work."
According to the report, the workplace harassment complaint filed at the hospital where Hong previously worked detailed that Hong continuously verbally abused and cursed multiple nurses working at the same hospital and committed acts of assault such as throwing surgical instruments.
There were even employees who quit the hospital due to his harassment. Additionally, there were testimonies witnessing Hong forcibly attempting physical contact with employees, constituting sexual harassment.
The workplace harassment complaint against Hong Seong-woo was filed at the hospital around October 2021. Hong was recommended to resign in that same month after the complaint was received.
The number of employees identified as victims of Hong Seong-woo is five or more. They commonly testified to experiencing verbal abuse, cursing, throwing surgical tools, as well as derogatory remarks and insults targeting patients from specific regions.
One employee testified, "He came into the operating room and vented his anger at us, using curses like 'damn bastards,' 'get lost,' 'are you guys researching how to harass me?' and insulting our parents, which was humiliating and made him seem inhuman. I was also shocked to witness him frequently making derogatory remarks when patients were from certain regions."
