Criticism of "Irresponsible Act" Through Commentary
The small and medium-sized business community expressed regret over the failure to submit a bill to the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 22nd to postpone the application of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees.

View original imageThe Korea Federation of SMEs stated in a commentary on the same day, "Despite the desperate pleas of more than 830,000 small workplaces with fewer than 50 employees, the National Assembly's disregard and failure to even discuss the matter is an irresponsible act."
Furthermore, the Federation emphasized, "The government and the National Assembly should consider the reality that most small and medium enterprises find it difficult to comply with the law due to a shortage of safety professionals and the lowest-price bidding system focused on price competition. Rather than forcibly applying the law, they should prepare substantial support measures and provide a preparation period to effectively prevent serious accidents."

They added, "With the law's enforcement scheduled for January 27 next year and time running short, we urge the National Assembly to promptly come together through bipartisan cooperation and pass the bill to postpone the application of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act."
