"Release the Identity of the Jinju Convenience Store Assault Suspect" Over 50,000 Sign Petition
Scheduled for Referral to the National Assembly Committee
The number of signatures on a national petition demanding the public disclosure of the identity of a man accused of assaulting a convenience store part-time worker and a customer has surpassed 50,000.
According to the National Assembly's National Petition website on the 22nd, the petition titled "Strong Punishment and Public Disclosure of the Identity of a Man in His 20s Who Indiscriminately Assaulted a Female Part-Time Worker at a Convenience Store in Jinju" began collecting signatures on the 8th.
The petition will continue to collect signatures until December 8, but as of this morning, it has reached 50,000 signatures and has been referred to the relevant committee of the National Assembly.
Even after meeting the referral condition, the number of signatures continues to increase, reaching 50,800 as of 2 p.m. today.

The relevant committee reviews the referred petition through the Petition Review Subcommittee and decides whether to submit it to the plenary session of the National Assembly. If the petition is adopted at the plenary session, the National Assembly or the government will take appropriate measures accordingly.
The petitioner wrote, "Random crimes are still crimes," and "I request the public disclosure of the suspect's identity."
Earlier, a man in his 20s, Mr. A, was indicted on charges of assaulting a female part-time worker in her 20s, Ms. B, at a convenience store in Hadae-dong, Jinju, around 12:10 a.m. on the 4th, and also assaulting a male customer in his 50s, Mr. C, who tried to intervene.
He is also accused of damaging the part-time worker's mobile phone and property inside the convenience store.
Due to Mr. A's assault, Ms. B suffered a sprain and ligament damage in her arm and injuries to her ear, while Mr. C reportedly sustained fractures to his shoulder, forehead, and nose.

At the time, Mr. A reportedly assaulted Ms. B while saying, "Seeing your short hair, you must be a feminist," and "Feminists need to be beaten a little."
