Namhae-gun and Navy 700-ton Class Namhae Ship Sisterhood ... Mutual Cooperation Agreement
Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, signed a sisterhood agreement with the Navy's 700-ton minesweeper 'Namhaeham' on the 21st.
The Namhaeham was launched in 2020, commissioned in 2022, and currently has a crew of 47 members carrying out its missions.
The 'Namhaeham' is responsible for collecting underwater environmental information during peacetime and performs minesweeping missions at major ports during wartime. It also conducts non-military and humanitarian operations such as search and rescue during disasters.
The names of minesweepers are designated based on the names of regions adjacent to their bases, and the Namhaeham requested a sisterhood partnership with Namhae-gun, the namesake region of the vessel.
Through this sisterhood agreement, both organizations will engage in mutual trust and cooperation by carrying out activities such as ▲providing civilian support including helping with labor ▲supporting security tours and visits ▲holding friendship events including visits to unit soldiers and officers.
