Vehicle Restrictions Around Baegun Square from 27th to 30th and December 5th to 6th
From the 27th to the 30th of this month, and between December 5th and 6th, partial vehicle traffic control will be enforced in the area around Baegun Square in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, during nighttime hours from 11 PM to 6 AM due to the installation work on the upper part of the Pureungil Bridge.
Additionally, vehicle entry in front of Baegun Square will be temporarily blocked between 1 AM and 2 AM for the transportation of construction materials, requiring caution and the use of detour routes.
On the 22nd, Nam-gu announced, "The installation work on the upper part of the Pureungil Bridge, which will connect the previously disconnected Pureungil Park walking paths in both directions in front of Baegun Square, will begin on the night of the 27th. To minimize inconvenience to vehicle traffic, the construction will be carried out only at night, and traffic control will be limited to certain sections."
The vehicle control zones around Baegun Square will be partially enforced depending on the construction dates.
First, from 11 PM on the 27th to 6 AM on the 28th, vehicle entry from Nam-gu Office toward Bongseon-dong will be restricted.
Also, from 11 PM on the 29th to 6 AM on the 30th, vehicle traffic from Baegun Square toward Baegun Elementary School will be limited.
Furthermore, on the 28th, 30th, and December 6th, between 1 AM and 2 AM, steel pipe transportation work necessary for connecting the upper part of the Pureungil Bridge will take place, temporarily blocking all intersection entries in front of Baegun Square during this time. The actual control duration is expected to be about 30 minutes.
Accordingly, Nam-gu is making every effort to inform the public about the traffic control zones according to the construction schedule by installing 24 banners on both sides of major roads, as well as providing traffic information through the TBN Korea Traffic Broadcasting traffic information program and the media wall at Nam-gu Office.
In addition, about 20 personnel, including traffic controllers, will be deployed around the construction site during the construction period, along with 14 guidance vehicles and signboards to actively direct drivers to detour routes.
