Yoon Visits Belfast Ship Supporting Korean War on Thames Riverside in UK
President Yoon Takes a Walk During State Visit to the United Kingdom
President Yoon Suk-yeol paid a state visit to the United Kingdom on the 21st (local time) and toured the Belfast ship docked along the Thames River in London.
The Presidential Office stated that before attending the official state welcome ceremony in the UK that morning, President Yoon took a walk across the Tower Bridge in London and toured the area.
The Presidential Office explained that the Belfast ship fired 7,816 rounds from its 6-inch guns between 1950 and 1952 during the Korean War to blockade the coast following North Korea and to support the UN and South Korean forces on land. After being decommissioned in 1963, it has been docked along the Thames River since 1971 and is used as a war museum.
