Gokseong-gun Holds Kickoff Meeting for Sustainable Development

Time for Kickoff Report, Q&A, and Opinion Listening

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that on the 20th, it held the appointment ceremony for the Gokseong-gun Sustainable Development Committee members along with the kickoff meeting for the establishment of the basic strategy and implementation plan for sustainable development.

About 40 people, including members of the Gokseong-gun Sustainable Development Committee and related public officials, attended the meeting.

The first part featured the appointment ceremony of the Sustainable Development Committee members, and the second part proceeded with the kickoff meeting for the establishment of the basic strategy and implementation plan for sustainable development.

The Gokseong-gun Sustainable Development Committee is composed of 4 ex officio members, including Governor Lee Sang-cheol, and 16 appointed members.

The members consist of experts from various fields and activists from social, economic, and environmental organizations and institutions within the local community.

In the first part, there was an explanation of the committee’s composition and roles, and Governor Lee Sang-cheol, as chairman, presented appointment certificates to the members.

Professor Choi Yong-su of Jeonnam Science University was elected as the vice chairman.

In the second part, Professor Yang Jeong-im, the lead researcher, gave a kickoff report on the establishment of the basic strategy and implementation plan for sustainable development, followed by a Q&A session and collection of opinions.

The members emphasized the importance of developing indicators suited to local conditions, given the broad scope of the project.

The county government will carefully review the opinions presented by the members, reflect them in the plan, and hold a mid-term report meeting in February next year to share progress.

Governor Lee Sang-cheol said, “I believe this is a hopeful first step toward the sustainable development of Gokseong-gun. I hope the committee members will pool their wisdom to develop sustainable indicators by gathering opinions from all walks of life in the county and to realize them.”
