Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 21st that it has installed an eco-friendly smart rest area (hereinafter referred to as the rest area) utilizing solar power generation devices along the Seongnaecheon walking trail.
The rest area was installed on the walking trail near Oryun Elementary School (Bangi-dong 446-6), a section of the Seongnaecheon trail that is frequently used but lacks rest spaces and other convenience facilities for residents.
The budget utilized 70 million KRW in support funds received from five nearby power plants in Songpa-gu. This project is part of an annual initiative aimed at improving the living environment and welfare of residents in areas surrounding the power plants.
The newly installed rest area includes amenities such as smartphone chargers, heated and cooled benches, bicycle racks, nighttime lighting, and CCTV to enhance convenience for residents.
In particular, the necessary electricity is generated through solar self-power generation, which is expected to save on electricity bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Since there are no tall buildings around the smart rest area, an annual power generation of 9,664 kWh is anticipated, which is projected to reduce 5.2 tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to planting 37,440 young pine trees.
The district plans to gradually expand the installation of rest areas along the Songpa Dullegil walking trail, taking into account residents' responses and opinions.
