Busan City Child Protection Comprehensive Center Holds the 24th Child Abuse Prevention Seminar
Seminar to Be Held at City Hall on the 21st at 2 PM for Child Abuse Prevention Week
Discussion on the Role of Local Child Protection Agencies, Expectation to Strengthen Child Protection System
The Busan Child Protection Comprehensive Center will hold the "24th Child Abuse Prevention Seminar: The Value of Togetherness in Busan Child Protection" at 2 p.m. on the 21st at the City Hall International Conference Hall.
Marking its 24th year, the Child Abuse Prevention Seminar is organized to raise public awareness about child abuse and gather diverse opinions on its prevention during the "Child Abuse Prevention Week (19th?25th)."
The seminar will be attended by about 200 people including district and county child abuse prevention police officers, related workers, and citizens, and will proceed in the order of ▲commendation for contributors to child abuse prevention ▲keynote presentations ▲comprehensive discussions ▲Q&A session.
A total of 13 individuals, including lawyers, volunteers, and public officials who have contributed to child abuse prevention, will be awarded the Busan Mayor’s Award.
Dr. Minju Kim, a research fellow at the Busan Women and Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, will give a keynote presentation on "Strengthening the Child Protection System Centered on the Role of Child Protection Agencies," followed by a comprehensive discussion chaired by Professor Seunghee Lee from Dong-A University’s Department of Child Studies.
The discussants will be experts from various fields including academia (Department of Social Welfare), fieldwork (Child Protection Agencies, Child Abuse Dedicated Officials, Child Abuse Prevention Police), and medical (Saessakjikimi Hospital).
Participants include Professor Miyoung Yoon from Busan National University’s Department of Social Welfare, medical social worker Mugyun Choi from Dong-A University Hospital (Saessakjikimi Hospital), Director Kyunghee Jo of Busan East Child Protection Agency, Abuse Prevention Officer (APO) Hyunho Yoon from Busanjin Police Station, and Child Protection Section Chief Miok Park from Busanjin District Office. They will discuss the roles of child protection agencies and future directions.
Following this, there will be a Q&A session where citizens can present and discuss various opinions together.
Seok Jeongsun, Director of the Busan Child Protection Comprehensive Center, stated, "Through this seminar, we expect to contribute to strengthening our city’s child protection system by discussing the diverse roles of local child protection agencies in line with the current government’s child policy direction," and added, "We ask for continued public interest in child abuse prevention."
