Gwangju Dong-gu and Gwangju Design Promotion Institute Join Hands to Revitalize the 'Art Street'
Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 16th that it has signed a consignment agreement with the Gwangju Design Center and the Art Street Merchants Association to promote the ‘Art Space Specialization Project’.
The ‘Art Space Specialization Project’ aims to revitalize the depressed Art Street by creating street-specialized spaces and improving existing old signs to establish a differentiated street image.
At the signing ceremony, Dong-gu promised mutual cooperation with the Gwangju Design Center, which successfully hosted the 10th Gwangju Design Biennale, to prepare mid- to long-term revitalization plans through research on Art Street and to establish the identity and uniqueness of Art Street by creating art-specialized spaces.
Song Jin-hee, Director of the Gwangju Design Center, said, “To revitalize Art Street, the two organizations and the merchants association will work closely together to ensure the successful completion of the project.”
