Gyeongnam National University Smart Manufacturing ICT Project Group Hosts 'Coding Test Competition'
The Smart Manufacturing ICT Project Group at Gyeongnam National University held the ‘2023 Second Semester Smart Manufacturing ICT Major Coding Test Competition’ for Smart Manufacturing ICT major students at the Changwon Convention Center.
The competition, held on the 15th, saw the participation of 31 students from four universities in the Ulsan and Gyeongnam regions who are enrolled in the Smart Manufacturing ICT major course under the Ulsan-Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform.
The competition proceeded in the order of ▲pre-coding education ▲coding test ▲awards ceremony. The test was conducted using ‘Monito,’ an online exam proctoring service, aiming to obtain the PCCP (Programmers Certified Coding Professional) certification.
PCCP (Programmers Certified Coding Professional) is a private certification exam that evaluates developers’ coding skills. It is taken by software majors and intermediate to advanced programming learners aiming for developer employment. The passing criterion is scoring 400 or more out of 1000 points, and certification levels are awarded based on the score. Generally, those who achieve Level 2 or higher can apply for IT developer positions in companies.
According to the company, since its launch in August last year, the Programmers Coding Competency Certification exam has been recognized by 110 companies including LG CNS, Asiana IDT, and Coupang, offering preferential treatment and exemption from coding tests in developer recruitment processes. It is also used for employee training and evaluation.
The prestigious grand prize was awarded to Nam Min-woo, a student from Gyeongsang National University, and excellence and encouragement awards were given based on competition rankings.
Kim Jin-ho, head of the Smart Manufacturing ICT Project Group, said, “Through the 2023 second semester coding test competition, students not only enhanced their major competencies but also had the opportunity to develop practical work skills needed in the field through a credible coding test that is favored in actual corporate developer recruitment.”
