POSCO E&C Develops Remodeling Specialized New Technologies Including Floor Soundproofing System
POSCO E&C announced on the 16th that it has successfully developed a remodeling-specialized 'floor soundproofing system' and a 'modular heating and hot water supply system.'

It originated from extensive construction experience at multiple remodeling sites with structural characteristics.
For apartments built before 2004, there were no separate legal standards for noise between floors, and the floor thickness of existing apartments was mostly only 120 to 150 mm, making them vulnerable to noise transmission between floors.
Accordingly, POSCO E&C introduced a composite and point-support soundproofing structure utilizing a vibration-damping module panel designed to implement a 70 mm uniform cast mortar structure, high-density mortar made from POSCO's eco-friendly byproducts, and a new material of foamed thermoplastic polyurethane (ETPU). Applying this system enables securing soundproofing performance equivalent to the standards set by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The modular heating and hot water supply system is also noteworthy. By modularizing the integrated heating and hot water heat exchanger and connecting piping, it is assembled in the factory to minimize on-site work and optimize installation space, providing additional space to customers.
In addition, POSCO E&C has filed a patent for technology that automatically converts 3D scan results of the construction status of existing apartments into Building Information Modeling (BIM). It also developed a 'high-rigidity steel pipe reinforcement pile' optimized for remodeling construction, which produces less noise and vibration and has greater rigidity compared to existing reinforcement piles.
POSCO E&C's active development of remodeling technologies was made possible by the 'A Team,' composed of core experts. The A Team was launched in May this year, embodying the meaning of 'Agile' (quick and nimble). A small elite team of specialists in design, construction, and research & development (R&D) aims to solve the company's current issues through 'rapid execution and feedback' and secure sustainable future growth engines. On the 13th, an 'A Team Performance Sharing Meeting' was held for a total of 37 projects, where awards were also presented.
