Edit Piaf, AI-Revived Biographical Film to Be Released
Warner Music Completes Copyright Agreement
90-Minute Narration Format
To mark the 60th anniversary of France's greatest singer ?dith Piaf, a biographical film that revives her image and voice using artificial intelligence (AI) will be released.
According to AFP on the 14th (local time), Warner Music is producing a 90-minute animated film depicting the life of Piaf, who was a leading singer from 1920 to 1960, traveling between Paris and New York.
To this end, Warner Music has signed an agreement with the holders of her copyrights. The plan is to recreate Piaf's distinctive voice using AI technology based on hundreds of her voices and images collected years ago.
Warner Music explained, "The film will be narrated in Piaf's voice," adding, "We will reveal aspects of her life that have not been known until now."
Alain Bayle, CEO of Warner Music France, said, "?dith Piaf is one of the greatest French artists in history and a great source of pride for the French people." He continued, "Piaf's story is about overcoming hardships and resisting social norms to achieve greatness, which remains meaningful not only at that time but also today."
He added, "We aim to deliver a timeless story to audiences of all ages by utilizing animation and the latest technology," and expressed hope that "the film will inspire a new generation of fans."
?dith Piaf was born in 1915 in a poor district of Paris, France. Following her acrobat father, she lived as a street singer before becoming a national singer. She left behind famous songs such as "La vie en Rose" and "Non, je ne regrette rien." Throughout her life, she dated many men including Yves Montand and struggled with drug and alcohol dependence before passing away at the age of 47 in 1963.

Meanwhile, recently in the UK, the Beatles' new song "Now and Then," created using AI, topped the local singles chart for the first time in 54 years. It received acclaim by isolating John Lennon's 1978 recorded vocals from background noise and adding George Harrison's guitar performance recorded in 1995.
