On the 15th, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Leads Launch of Snow Removal Task Force, Fully Prepared for Snow Removal Until Late March Next Year
On the 15th, Mapo-gu launched a Snow Removal Countermeasures Headquarters led by District Mayor Park Gang-su.
The district formed 13 operational teams, including the Situation Management General Team, Disaster Site Environment Maintenance Team, and Facility Emergency Recovery Team, to thoroughly prepare for snow removal to prevent accidents caused by snowfall and freezing and to ensure smooth road traffic until March 15 of next year.
In response to recent abnormal weather, Mapo-gu plans to prepare more thoroughly than in previous years by deploying a total of 1,548 personnel, including professional snow removal contractors and district public officials.
To strengthen snow removal capabilities, the district increased the number of road snow removal vehicles from 7 to 10, efficiently managing 73 routes (79 km) and side roads within the area.
The number of priority snow removal vulnerable points under focused management has been expanded from 74 to 91 by adding 17 locations, and the number of mobile forward bases storing calcium chloride has increased from one within 3 km to four, ensuring dense placement.
Additionally, the district secured 54% more snow removal agents compared to last year, preparing a total of 2,044 tons. To improve convenience and efficiency in using snow removal agents, the purchase of 5 kg handle-type agents was doubled, and various sizes (5, 10, 15 kg units) of eco-friendly snow removal agents were procured and prepared for use.
In particular, road heating cables in snow removal vulnerable sections such as slopes were expanded from 5 locations (685 m) to 21 locations (2,550 m), and brine spraying equipment was also expanded, with a total of 54 units operating at full capacity.
Furthermore, the district secured and deployed 18 additional small snow removal devices suitable for side roads and sidewalks at each neighborhood community center to enable rapid response in the early stages of snowfall, and provided winter supplies such as thermal gloves and hot packs for snow removal work in each neighborhood.
