The Korea Women Venture Association announced that it jointly held the ‘2023 Women Venture Policy Meeting’ with Representative Han on the 15th at the 5th conference room of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building.
This meeting was organized to seek institutional improvements and strategic development plans through listening to on-site opinions from women ventures and startups. This is because the role of women venture companies is becoming increasingly important as a future growth engine for the national economy.
Attendees included Representative Han, Yoon Mi-ok, president of the Korea Women Venture Association, Jang Hye-won, senior vice president, Kim Ja-won, head of the Busan-Gyeongnam branch, female venture and startup CEOs, Lee Mi-soon, research fellow at the Small and Medium Business Venture Research Institute, and Lee Seung-hyun, research fellow at the Korea Women’s Policy Institute.
At the meeting, Song Yoon-hwa and Joo Hyun-kyung, co-chairs of the Policy Research Committee, and Go Ye-seong, vice chair, pointed out that the proportion of women venture companies benefiting from investment attraction and research and development (R&D) support projects is only about 10%. They requested policy support such as expanding social capital to activate investment attraction for women enterprises, strengthening R&D support to enhance the technological competitiveness of women enterprises, and promoting survey research to understand the current status and performance of women venture companies’ management activities.
President Yoon said, “In an era of low birthrate and aging population, utilizing women’s human resources is essential to create future growth engines and leap forward as a world-leading country, so fostering women ventures and startups is absolutely necessary,” adding, “We hope that effective policies for fostering women venture companies will be continuously developed along with ongoing interest in activating women ventures and startups.”
