Changwon Special City, Changwon Volunteer Association Holds Unity Pledge Event

On the 15th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the ‘2023 Changwon City Volunteer Association Unity Pledge Event’ at Daewon Leisure Sports Park, attended by about 300 members of the Changwon City Volunteer Association.

View original imageThe event was organized to encourage and support the hard work of the members of the Changwon City Volunteer Association. The first part consisted of a commemorative ceremony, and the second part included team competitions, recreational activities, and a singing contest among each neighborhood, providing a time to enjoy various programs together.
During the first part of the event, plaques and certificates were awarded to 21 outstanding volunteers recognized for their dedicated volunteer work for the local community. The second part featured team competitions and neighborhood singing contests, fostering friendship and harmony among the members.
Oh Myung-ja, President of the Changwon City Volunteer Association, said, “We will take the lead in volunteer activities for neighbors in need with warm service and love. We will strive to be a bright light illuminating our community.”
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “I sincerely congratulate the holding of today’s Changwon City Volunteer Association Unity Pledge Event. Thanks to the volunteers, the cold weather felt several degrees warmer, making it a warm and heartfelt year.” He added, “I hope you will continue to practice volunteer work for neighbors in difficulty and take the lead in creating a happy Changwon where it is good to live.”

Meanwhile, the Changwon City Volunteer Association was established in October 1986 and currently has about 600 members across 15 eup, myeon, and dong in Uichang and Seongsan districts. They actively carry out volunteer activities for community development in various fields, including helping low-income and marginalized neighbors, organizing senior citizen feasts, and supporting side dish provision projects.
