Korean-style 'Christmas Market' Opens in Osan
Night Opening from the 24th to Christmas Eve at Osan Station Plaza and Areumdaro
A 'Christmas Market' will be held for one month until Christmas next month in Osan-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Osan-si announced on the 14th that it will hold the '1st Osan-si Christmas Market' every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from the 24th of this month to the 24th of next month at Osan Station Plaza and Areumdaro (formerly Munhwa Street).
This Christmas Market is a nighttime event prepared by the city to revitalize commercial districts such as Wondong Shopping Street and support local small business owners. In particular, the city plans to develop the Christmas Market into a representative winter festival alongside the spring and autumn regional festivals, the Yamac Festival. Previously, Mayor Lee Gwon-jae of Osan visited the Yokohama Christmas Market in Japan last December to promote the Christmas Market.
The city plans to set up ▲European-style Christmas Market booths ▲interactive flea market booths ▲various food booths in the Osan Station Plaza, Areumdaro, and Wondong Shopping Street areas. Operating hours are from 5 PM to 9 PM every Friday and Saturday for the food booths at Osan Station Plaza and Areumdaro, and from 2 PM to 6 PM every Saturday and Sunday for the flea market at Osan Station Plaza. Additionally, landscape lighting and photo zones will operate daily from sunset until late at night for one month.
To operate the Christmas Market, the city recruited sellers in advance, divided into categories of ▲general goods (small items, handicrafts, etc.) ▲flea market (handicrafts) ▲food (winter snacks and light meals, etc.).

Mayor Lee said, "The goal of the 8th municipal administration is to maximize Osan-si’s resources to provide opportunities for local small business owners and attractions for citizens," adding, "We will also realize day and night festivals utilizing Mulhyanggi Arboretum to enhance the value of Osan."
