Discovery of 16 Projects Worth 20 Billion KRW

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it held the "2025 Fund Project Discovery Report Meeting" on the 10th to develop new policies and projects aimed at responding to local extinction and securing a living population.

The report meeting was chaired by County Governor Lee Sang-cheol, with over 30 participants including the deputy governor and heads of all departments. They discussed the promotion plans, necessity, and feasibility of 16 new projects worth 20 billion KRW submitted by each department and sought ways to improve them.

The projects were classified into five areas: residential environment improvement, economy, increase in living population, culture, and medical care. Among the discovered projects, those that not only enhance population vitality but also have high public perception and satisfaction will be prioritized. After going through the public-private-academic practical council and collecting residents' opinions, these projects will be reflected in the 2025 investment plan.

At the meeting, Governor Lee Sang-cheol urged the county officials, saying, "Starting with this report meeting, if we carefully check the projects that can be reflected in the 2025 investment plan and establish a well-structured investment plan, I expect the projects our county wants to carry out will proceed smoothly."

A county official stated, "Although we need to prepare the 2025 projects simultaneously with the confirmation of the 2024 fund project budget, a proactive response ahead of other cities and counties is necessary to write a high-quality investment plan and achieve speedy and visible results for the fund projects currently being promoted in our county." He added, "We are also looking forward to creative ideas for sustainable development of Gokseong in the '2023 Gokseong Where Citizens Are Happier Local Extinction Response Idea Contest,' which will be held until the 24th. We hope for active participation not only from our citizens but from people nationwide."

Meanwhile, Gokseong-gun secured 20.2 billion KRW, the largest amount in Jeollanam-do, including 11.2 billion KRW in basic funds and 9 billion KRW in metropolitan funds, ranking in the top 20% (18 out of 89) among nationwide local governments facing population decline in the 2024 local extinction response fund investment plan evaluation.
