View original imageThe POSCO labor union approved the tentative agreement on the 2023 wage and collective agreement through a member vote on the 9th. With the smooth conclusion of this year’s wage and collective bargaining negotiations, POSCO has continued its tradition of labor-management harmony without disputes since its founding in 1968.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok, on behalf of the citizens of Pohang, expressed gratitude to POSCO labor and management for reaching the agreement through concession and compromise amid economic difficulties, and welcomed the outcome achieved through united efforts for mutual growth.
The mayor stated, “The driving force behind POSCO’s growth into a global company is the united strength of labor and management, who have continuously innovated and strived to create greater social value beyond mere corporate profit.” He urged, “Going forward, I ask labor and management to join forces with a heart for the company, citizens, local community, and the Republic of Korea.” He also emphasized, “Pohang City will do its utmost to establish cooperative labor-management relations, enhance labor rights, and promote the development of the local community.”

The POSCO labor union held a vote on the ‘2023 Wage and Collective Agreement Tentative Agreement’ among all union members. Out of 11,245 eligible voters, 10,856 participated, with 5,527 votes (50.91%) in favor and 5,329 votes (49.09%) against, resulting in final approval.
