Completion of Hydrogen Transportation Complex Base at Pyeongtaek Port
Establishment of the Largest Hydrogen Refueling Facility in Korea
The largest hydrogen refueling facility in South Korea has been established at Pyeongtaek Port in Gyeonggi Province.
On the 10th, Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it held a completion ceremony for the 'Pyeongtaek Port Hydrogen Transportation Complex Base' with officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Gyeonggi Province, Hyundai Motor Company, and the Korea Automotive Technology Institute in attendance.

The project involved Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, and Korea Gas Technology Corporation, among others.
Built on a total area of 5,000㎡, this site features the largest large-capacity hydrogen refueling facility in the country, capable of refueling logistics trucks, car carriers, and cargo handling equipment.
In particular, the Pyeongtaek Port Hydrogen Transportation Complex Base is connected to nearby hydrogen production facilities via pipelines, reducing transportation costs and enabling the supply of hydrogen at a lower price. Through this, Pyeongtaek City expects hydrogen distribution in the transportation sector to expand further, centered around Pyeongtaek Port and Poseung National Industrial Complex.
Moreover, the site is conducting the world's first car carrier demonstration project in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company and Hyundai Glovis, as well as conversion projects for logistics trucks and cargo handling equipment based at Pyeongtaek Port.
In addition to hydrogen refueling facilities, the base is equipped with auxiliary facilities such as a space for nurturing hydrogen mobility startups and convenience facilities. Following this completion, the base will undergo a trial operation period and is scheduled to begin full-scale operation from the end of November.
Jung Jang-seon, mayor of Pyeongtaek City, stated, "Starting with the completion of the Pyeongtaek Port Hydrogen Transportation Complex Base, we will build Pyeongtaek Port into a world-leading hydrogen port."
