"'Drug King' Park Wang-yeol Ruining Korea in the Philippines... Must Be Repatriated to Korea"
As public opinion for the extradition of Park Wang-yeol, known as the 'Top 3 Korean Drug Lords in Southeast Asia' who is reportedly distributing drugs domestically while imprisoned in the Philippines, heats up, drug specialist lawyer Sohn Su-ho of the Jihyuk Law Firm emphasized the necessity of extradition, stating, "Since this is related to drug crimes in our country, it is worth attempting extradition."
On the 10th, Lawyer Sohn said on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "Park is currently ruining Korea while being in a Philippine prison," adding, "Diplomatic efforts must be made to successfully extradite him to Korea, and thorough investigations and evidence by investigative agencies are essential."
Park's existence was recently revealed domestically through a JTBC report. He was sentenced by the Philippine Supreme Court to a fixed-term imprisonment of 57 years and 4 months, and a maximum of 60 years for killing three Koreans in the Philippines in 2016, and is currently incarcerated in a Philippine prison. However, it has been reported that even from inside, he has been selling drugs to Korea via Telegram.
Lawyer Sohn expressed concern, saying, "According to reports, Park used Telegram to send drugs to our country as recently as July this year," and "In this interview, he said, 'With just one phone call to Korea, I can know where the drugs will enter and exit the day after tomorrow,' which shows he is still deeply involved in the drug business."
Park also claimed in a media interview, "If I open my mouth, many Korean prosecutors will lose their jobs." Lawyer Sohn said, "Of course, this could be the delusional lies or boasting of a criminal, but he also hinted at stories that remind us of domestic lobbying," and "therefore, voices calling for bringing him to Korea to punish him are rising again."

Although Park’s 60-year imprisonment in the Philippines is confirmed, and in principle, he can only be brought back after serving his sentence, Lawyer Sohn conveyed that since he is connected to domestic crimes, it is worth attempting extradition. Sohn stated, "The Ministry of Justice is currently making its best efforts to extradite Park," adding, "Specific measures are not well known, but the fact that the methods are not disclosed might actually be effective, so we need to wait a little longer."
