On the 6th (local time), Al Jazeera reported the story of 13-year-old Awni Eldos, who lived in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
While alive, Eldos enjoyed online gaming and had been uploading gaming-related videos to his YouTube channel for the past two years, interacting with his subscribers. Although he had only uploaded 10 videos so far, Eldos once expressed his ambition in a video, saying, "My dream is to increase my subscribers to 100,000, 500,000, and 1 million."
However, Eldos, along with 15 family members including his parents, passed away due to Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip following the Israel-Hamas war that began on the 7th of last month.
His story spread worldwide through social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Netizens began subscribing to his YouTube channel to fulfill Eldos's wish while he was alive.
As of the 10th, Eldos's channel subscribers have reached 1.26 million. His dream was realized only after he departed for the afterlife.
Netizens mourned with comments such as "Remember him," "He achieved his dream, but sadly, he has now left us," "We hope he uploads joyful gaming videos as a 1 million YouTuber in heaven," and "May God's mercy be with him."
Meanwhile, as the war between Israel and Hamas surpasses one month, the number of civilian casualties is increasing exponentially.
The Gaza Strip Ministry of Health estimated that as of the 6th, the cumulative Palestinian death toll reached 10,022, including 4,104 children.
Barbara Leaf, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the 8th, stating, "The number of casualties in Gaza may be much higher than Hamas's figures."
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated on X, "In this war, one child dies and two are injured every 10 minutes."
