Boseong General Arts Festival Successfully Concluded
Eupmyeon Village Story Contest, 100-Person Pansori Chorus Performance, etc.
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the 3rd Boseong Comprehensive Arts Festival held at the Cultural and Arts Center on the 9th was successfully concluded with a rich program and active participation from residents.
Hosted by the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations Boseong Branch (Branch Chief Seo Jeong-mi), the 3rd Boseong Comprehensive Arts Festival showcased various cultural events including a 100-person Pansori choir performance, a town storytelling contest by eup and myeon villages, and performances by local art groups, attended by about 500 residents.

On this day, various art groups such as the Purumi Arts Troupe, Boseong Sori Preservation Society, Boseong Sori Madang, Arirang Arts Troupe, Boseong Sori Changgeuk Troupe, Boseong Writers Association, Boseong Art Association, and Boseong Entertainment Artists Association participated, elevating the prestige of the comprehensive arts festival.
In particular, the ‘100-Person Pansori Choir Performance Sarangga’ sung together by 100 Boseong residents who received special training from local master singers was highly praised as a distinctive stage showcasing Boseong’s identity as the hometown of Seopyeonje and the land of sound.
The ‘Village Storytelling Contest’ involving 12 eup and myeon of Boseong-gun was a storytelling contest introducing local neighborhoods, attended by about 500 local residents.
At the village storytelling contest, videos of the villages created by residents were presented on site, and external judges conducted the evaluation.
The grand prize went to Nosan Village in Boseong-eup, while the excellence awards were given to Salnae Village in Miryeok-myeon and Hoeumdong Village in Deukryang-myeon.
Seo Jeong-mi, Branch Chief of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations Boseong Branch, said, “It was truly rewarding to be able to share this event with so many people.” She added, “We will continue to strive to become a federation that can satisfy diverse cultural needs by maintaining continuous interest and love for the development of local culture and arts and for our local artists.”
Kim Cheol-woo, Mayor of Boseong-gun, stated, “We will continue to hold cultural and artistic events with local artists and residents, and gradually expand the Village Storytelling Contest, which is part of the Boseong600 project, to create a cultural festival that shares the origins and history of villages with all residents.”
Meanwhile, the ‘100-Person Pansori Choir Performance Sarangga’ began rehearsals in May of this year, and the eup and myeon village storytelling contest was prepared for filming since summer, with residents working together over a long period to produce it.
