Korean Senior Citizens Association Goryeong Branch Tours Gaya Tumuli World Heritage Site
About 40 executives of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Goryeong-gun Branch visited the areas of Goseong-gun, Haman-gun, and Hapcheon-gun in Gyeongnam Province, where the Gaya Tumuli are located, on the 8th to commemorate the inscription of the Gaya Tumuli, including the Jisan-dong Tumuli in Goryeong, as a World Heritage site and to raise greater interest in the Gaya Tumuli in nearby regions as well as in our area.

View original imageDuring this tour, they visited museums and tumulus sites in the regions where the Gaya Tumuli are located, spending meaningful time not only focusing on the Jisan-dong Tumuli in Goryeong but also showing interest in other Gaya Tumuli sites inscribed as World Heritage sites in different regions.
The inscription of the Jisan-dong Tumuli in Goryeong as a World Heritage site is a recognition by the world of the historical and cultural value of “Daegaya,” our long-standing history. The World Heritage designation is not an end but a beginning, expected to serve as a great cornerstone that can lead to regional revitalization through preservation for future generations and proper utilization.
Baek Won-chi, the branch president, said, “With the Gaya Tumuli being inscribed as a World Heritage site, we feel immense pride in the global recognition of the historical and cultural value of Gaya. The Korea Senior Citizens Association Goryeong-gun Branch, as the elders of the region, will show greater affection and interest in the Goryeong Jisan-dong Tumuli, the representative heritage of the Gaya Tumuli, and based on this, we expect it to be an opportunity for Goryeong-gun to advance to the next level.”
