Former Korean professional baseball player and YouTuber Jo Yong-hoon (36) has sparked controversy after it was revealed that he caused a disturbance on the streets of Japan by shouting loudly and verbally abusing passersby.
On the 7th, Jo apologized during a live broadcast on his personal YouTube channel, saying, "I am truly sorry."
He stated, "I sincerely apologize for causing trouble with my thoughtless actions while intoxicated during my trip to Japan, trying to make myself known. I am very sorry for disappointing the fans who have loved me. I will do my best to become a good husband and a good father." He also added a vow to reduce his alcohol consumption following this incident.

Earlier, Jo uploaded a video titled "Dokdo is my land" on his YouTube channel. The video showed Jo Yong-hoon, intoxicated, cursing at pedestrians on a busy street in Japan.
He threatened Japanese passersby, shouting phrases such as "What are you looking at, XX," "XX, come here," and "You crazy XXs." Jo Yong-hoon was also seen walking around shirtless at night.
His drunken behavior continued into the night. He walked with his arms spread wide, lifting them high, and wandered the streets completely bare-chested. He approached locals passing by, forcibly putting his arm around their shoulders or loudly shouting into the camera, "Dokdo is my land, XX."
Jo Yong-hoon's video was shared among netizens through online communities. Netizens responded with criticism and disappointment, saying things like, "He's embarrassing the country all by himself overseas," "He was a professional player, but after starting internet broadcasting, he’s become strange," and "Please pretend you’re not Korean even now, it’s embarrassing."
