Seongnam City to Implement Homeless Protection Measures by March Next Year
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has prepared protection measures for homeless people during the winter season.
Seongnam City announced on the 10th that it will implement protection measures from November this year to March next year to detect homeless people vulnerable to cold waves or heavy snowfall early and provide appropriate protection services.
During this period, the Homeless Comprehensive Support Center will conduct regular patrols at least three times a day, and a joint counseling team composed of city and district officials and homeless facility workers will conduct district-specific patrols weekly and joint patrols once a month.
Through homeless patrols, the city will guide homeless people to shelters and lodging facilities such as goshiwons, and if they refuse, relief supplies such as hot packs, gloves, hats, and socks will be provided. In addition, the health status of homeless people will be checked frequently, and if necessary, they will be connected to hospital treatment.
A Seongnam City official said, "We will strengthen street patrols to prevent victims from cold waves and do our best to ensure that homeless people on the streets can safely get through the winter."
