Changwon's Representative Tourist Attractions Yeojwacheon, Jinhae Marine Park, and Changwon House Selected as Tourist Destinations
Changwon Special City Selected as the Only Three Sites in Gyeongnam for the 2024 Open Tourism Site Development Project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
On the 9th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that Yeojwacheon, Jinhae Marine Park, and Changwon House, representative tourist attractions of Changwon City, were finally selected in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's '2024 Open Tourism Site Development Project' contest.
This contest received applications from 67 tourist sites across 28 local governments nationwide, and after document screening and on-site evaluation, the final new target sites were selected.
The 'Open Tourism Site' project aims to create convenient and enjoyable travel conditions for everyone by resolving tourists' mobility inconveniences such as walkways and ramps maintenance, and providing experiential content accessible to various types of disabilities.
The selected tourist sites will finalize detailed project plans through customized on-site consulting involving barrier-free experts and persons with disabilities.
The city plans to build a five-sense experience and Changwon open tourism healing platform where visitors can enjoy tactile cherry blossoms year-round at Yeojwacheon, experience trick art on the sea at Jinhae Marine Park while riding a wheelchair, and see with their ears, hear with their eyes, and relax their minds at Changwon House.
Furthermore, with representative tourist attractions such as Yeojwacheon selected for the open tourism site development project, it is expected to greatly help revitalize local tourism by enhancing tourism attractiveness and activating linked tourism among open tourism sites.

Kim Eun-ja, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, "We applied for this contest to develop Changwon's representative tourist sites, including Yeojwacheon, into inclusive open tourism sites for everyone," adding, "We will take the lead in making Changwon's representative tourist sites, famous for the Yeojwacheon Cherry Blossom Festival, a barrier-free open tourism site where anyone can visit, see, learn, and feel without exclusion."
