Jeongeup-si Develops 3 Public Parking Lots... Expected to Ease Parking Shortage
Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk is creating public parking lots in three locations, including Sangdong Miso Street, to alleviate parking difficulties for local residents.
According to the city on the 9th, the new public parking lots will be established at Sangdong Miso Street, in front of Jangmyeong-dong Dongchogyo Elementary School, and near Seoyoung Girls' High School in Suseong-dong, areas where complaints about the lack of parking spaces have been consistently raised by local residents.
The city is investing a total project cost of 2 billion KRW, including 1 billion KRW in provincial subsidies, starting with land acquisition in May 2023, and is promoting the creation of a public parking lot at Sangdong Miso Street with a total of 75 parking spaces after administrative procedures.
The public parking lot projects in front of Jangmyeong-dong Dongchogyo Elementary School and near Seoyoung Girls' High School in Suseong-dong are also targeted for completion in 2023.
A city official stated, “By creating public parking lots in the downtown area, we aim to resolve residents' parking inconveniences and illegal roadside parking, and improve parking convenience for citizens visiting stores near the old downtown area, which we expect will greatly help revitalize the local commercial district.”
