"Get Gift Certificates by Verifying Walking and Riding"… Gangbuk-gu Runs Challenge This Month
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 9th that it will operate a ‘Walking and Bicycle Challenge’ to encourage physical activity among residents. This challenge is open to all Gangbuk-gu residents. The walking challenge will be held until the 24th of this month. The certified course connects Gangbuk-gu Residents’ Sports Complex to Buk Seoul Dream Forest.
The 3.5 km route starts from Gangbuk-gu Residents’ Sports Complex, passing through the summit of Opaesan, Beondong U Library, Odonggyo Bridge, Buk Seoul Dream Forest Visitor Center, Buk Seoul Dream Forest Deer Enclosure, and ends at Buk Seoul Dream Forest Art Center. It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete.
The bicycle riding challenge will be held until the 30th of this month. The course is a bicycle path connecting Uicheon Stream to the Han River. It starts from Ssanghan Bridge in front of Gangbuk Middle School, passes Seokgye Station, and heads toward Yongbi Bridge, covering 17 km and taking about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Both challenges can be participated in through the mobile application (app) WalkOn. After installing the app, participants select either the ‘Gangbuk-gu Residents’ Sports Complex - Buk Seoul Dream Forest Walking Challenge’ or the ‘Uicheon Stream - Han River Bicycle Challenge,’ turn on the smartphone’s location information, and complete the course.
After finishing, pressing the submit button enters participants into a draw to receive a mobile gift certificate worth approximately 5,000 KRW. The district plans to award mobile gift certificates to a total of 400 people, 200 per challenge, through a lottery.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “Both the walking and bicycle challenges are designed as courses where residents can enjoy the district’s beautiful natural environment,” adding, “We hope families, friends, and couples will join the challenge while visiting the district’s attractions during the cool autumn season.”
