Gwangju Nam-gu Hosts the 9th Lifelong Learning Festival on Pureungil Road
The 9th Nam-gu Lifelong Learning Festival, where various values learned through education are shared together, will be held in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City this coming weekend.
According to Nam-gu on the 8th, the 9th Nam-gu Lifelong Learning Festival will be held under the theme "The Joyful Path of Learning, Towards a Happy Nam-gu!" starting at 9:30 a.m. on the 11th at the Green Road Plaza behind Bigsupo in Juwol-dong.
The festival showcases all the outcomes related to lifelong learning, and any Nam-gu resident can freely participate in the festival.
Nam-gu plans to present a variety of stages to share with residents the joy gained from lifelong learning as well as the lifelong learning value that "learning has no end."
This year’s festival will include participation from various lifelong learning communities such as local lifelong learning institutions, organizations, clubs, and schools. The aim is to create a festival ground where everyone can learn and enjoy together.
The 9th Nam-gu Lifelong Learning Festival will begin with pre-event performances by the Songwon Elementary School Sorimoa Choir and the Dongil Mirae Science High School dance team.
Following the pre-event performances, the opening ceremony will include an awards ceremony for writing contest winners and lifelong learning contributors, followed immediately by various exhibitions and experiential events.
In the performance and exhibition/experience sections, a total of 17 teams will participate, showcasing the skills honed through lifelong learning.
At the performance section, there will be a model walking experience by the Senior Model Team from the Life Restart Learning Center, performances of bagpipes and saxophone by the KSA team, and a musical performance by the Korean Deaf Education Association team featuring hearing-impaired performers.
At the exhibition section, the Nam-gu Disabled Welfare Center’s art creation group and the lifelong learning club Meokmul team will display art creations and calligraphy works, respectively.
At the experience section, a total of 11 teams will participate, presenting stages such as modern costumes, nail art, hanji craft, leather and chilbo craft, and acrylic mood lamp making, providing diverse hands-on experiences for residents visiting the lifelong learning festival.
Additionally, at the special exhibition stage, visitors can see the award-winning works from the 17th Korean Language Writing Contest and works by participants of the adult literacy class.

A Nam-gu official said, "We have incorporated the joy of learning and the value and meaning of lifelong learning into the festival," adding, "We hope many residents will participate and help make it a stage for everyone to enjoy together."
