Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will hold the ‘2023 Seocho-gu Social Economy Expo,’ where visitors can experience and purchase products from social economy enterprises in the area all in one place.
A ‘social economy enterprise’ is a business model that creatively solves social problems for the public good, such as improving the quality of life for community members, while pursuing both corporate profits and social value realization.
The ‘2023 Seocho-gu Social Economy Expo’ will be held on the 14th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seocho-gu Office Plaza, with a total of 28 teams from local social economy enterprises and organizations participating. The event is designed to promote social economy enterprises and provide opportunities to secure sales channels, thereby revitalizing the social economy.
Additionally, the district plans to hold the expo during the Korea Sale Festa (’23.11.11.~11.30.) to enhance corporate promotion and sales effects.
This expo will also feature collaboration with young entrepreneurs. Ten teams from the ‘Social Economy Culture and Arts Youth Startup Support Project’ will participate, providing promotional opportunities for young entrepreneurs and showcasing various products and services to residents.
Since 2018, the district has been operating the ‘Social Economy Culture and Arts Youth Startup Support Project,’ offering financial support and capacity-building education to young cultural and artistic entrepreneurs facing initial startup difficulties.
The event will combine social economy with cultural and artistic performances, featuring ▲Promotion & Sales Zone ▲Experience Zone ▲Performance Stage.
In the ‘Promotion & Sales Zone,’ products and services from local social economy enterprises will be promoted and sold. Various products such as coffee, forest experience programs, cosmetics, crafts, and moss terrariums made from recycled plastics will be showcased.
In the ‘Experience Zone,’ residents can create social economy-related products and experience services to better understand the social economy. Activities will include making lamington cakes, figure candles, Indian necklaces, aromatherapy, and body correction programs.
On the ‘Performance Stage,’ music performances that evoke the autumn atmosphere will add enjoyment to the expo. Six teams, including the ‘Seoripul SE Art Troupe’ operated by the Seocho-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center and local cultural and artistic groups, will present diverse cultural performances such as choir, popera, vocal music, violin, and contemporary dance.
Additionally, the Korea Office of the International Fair Trade Organization will participate to promote fair trade and hold events, while Seocho Women’s Job Corporation will promote and exhibit its planter interior business. There will also be various events such as a support event giving good luck gifts to students preparing for the college entrance exam on November 16, and a stamp tour of participating companies.
Meanwhile, the district opened the ‘Seocho-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center’ (located in Seocho-dong) in February last year, making various efforts to revitalize the social economy by discovering local social economy enterprises and promoting customized consulting and live commerce for sales support.
