Professor Kim Eui-seok of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital Appointed as Eminent Member of the American Society for Infectious Diseases
Professor Kim Eui-seok, an infectious disease specialist at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital (photo), has been appointed as a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).
Founded in 1963, the Infectious Diseases Society of America is a globally recognized professional society specializing in infectious diseases. It selects experts who have demonstrated outstanding research achievements in the field of infectious disease research and appoints them as Fellows.
Professor Kim Eui-seok served as the head of the Infection Control Center at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital during the 2015 MERS outbreak and the recent COVID-19 pandemic, significantly contributing to the treatment and infection control of severe patients in the Seoul metropolitan area. Following Bundang Seoul National University Hospital's designation as a specialized infectious disease hospital in the metropolitan area in 2022, he is expected to play a key role as a control tower in infectious disease response. Professor Kim has engaged in multinational clinical research related to COVID-19, collaborating with domestic and international researchers, and is currently active in various fields including clinical research on the increasing trend of multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria.
