View original imageModular housing is a method where each unit of a building is pre-manufactured in a factory and then transported to the site for assembly. This minimizes on-site work, shortens construction time, and ensures consistent quality. Additionally, it reduces carbon and waste emissions during construction and produces less dust and noise, making it an eco-friendly construction method.
The Gurye modular housing complex completed by DL E&C is a single-story detached house with an attic, covering a total floor area of 2,347.63㎡, consisting of 26 units each with a net area of 74㎡. It is a public rental housing project aimed at returning farmers and rural migrants, which began construction in June last year and recently completed with move-ins starting.
DL E&C designed and realized a perfect detached house by combining a total of 11 steel modular units to create one house, a first in Korea. Since 2017, DL E&C has been developing modular technology and holds over 40 related patents. The Gurye modular housing complex applied numerous proprietary patented technologies such as unit combination design, welding-free connectors, and non-load-bearing exterior joint systems. Through this, DL E&C established a modular design and production system suited to the domestic detached housing environment and improved productivity by 125%.
Previously, due to technical issues arising from modular transportation, installation, joining, and finishing, only single units were used to produce small houses such as studios and dormitories. However, DL E&C utilized accumulated know-how and new technologies to configure △3 bedrooms △2 bathrooms △kitchen △living room △attic △laundry room △veranda, thereby maximizing the spacious floor plan of a detached house.

DL E&C is currently developing ‘multi-connection technology’ that allows customers to freely select standard modular units and plan their desired floor layout. Using this technology, customers can choose and assemble units such as kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms like Lego blocks to arrange their preferred layout.
