Automobile Journalists Association Selects BMW 5 Series as Car of the Month for November
The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on the 6th that the BMW New 5 Series has been selected as the Car of the Month for November 2023.
The Car of the Year Selection Committee under the Journalists Association evaluates new and facelifted models released during the month from the 1st to the end of the previous month and announces the Car of the Month. The evaluation consists of five categories: ▲interior and exterior design and emotional quality ▲safety and convenience features ▲power performance ▲energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions ▲marketability and purchase intention.
Among the new cars introduced last month, the BMW New 5 Series, Genesis GV80 facelift, Polestar upgraded Polestar 2, and Honda All New Accord (in brand name alphabetical order) were nominated for the Car of the Month for November. After fierce competition, the BMW New 5 Series was finally selected as the Car of the Month for November with a score of 31.3 points out of 50.
The BMW New 5 Series received 7.3 points out of 10 in the interior and exterior design and emotional quality category, and scored 6.7 points each in the safety and convenience features and power performance categories.
Jung Chi-yeon, Chairperson of the Car of the Year Selection Committee, said, "The New 5 Series, completely redesigned as the 8th generation after six years since 2017, is BMW's iconic model embodying unique design and digital innovation. It features the widest interior space in its class with a curved display, and is equipped with an engine applying 48V mild hybrid technology, delivering powerful performance while minimizing fuel consumption and improving ride comfort."
The Korea Automobile Journalists Association has been selecting and announcing the Car of the Month since 2019. Last month, the KG Mobility Torres EVX was honored as the Car of the Month.

The Journalists Association announces the Car of the Month selection results through its official website. Vehicles selected as Car of the Month receive a special privilege of a free pass, allowing them to advance directly to the first round of the final judging without going through the first and second half evaluations of the Car of the Year.
