The launch ceremony was attended by more than 80 members from 20 teams selected through an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based volunteer idea contest, along with officials from Lotte Holdings' CSV team. The ceremony included an introduction to the program and a pledge by participants, a special lecture by environmental expert Professor Yoon Soon-jin from Seoul National University, mentoring sessions, and an ESG quiz event.
The Lotte Value project is a social contribution program in which Lotte collaborates with the Impact Business Foundation and the Community Chest of Korea to address social issues from an ESG perspective together with young people. Lotte Holdings supports the program operation by linking participation in affiliate ESG programs and providing activity funds. Since the first Value volunteer group was formed in 2018, it has conducted volunteer activities on various themes such as environmental protection, ethical consumption, and support for vulnerable groups.
During the volunteer recruitment held throughout September, 119 university teams applied, and 20 teams were finally selected. The 2023 Value volunteer group, which will begin full-scale activities next month, plans to develop creative programs reflecting various themes based on ideas proposed by university students, such as producing organic dog supplies through upcycling of discarded clothing, creating picture books for children from multicultural families, and campaigns to improve awareness of the visually impaired. The volunteer group will also engage in social media (SNS) promotional activities by producing and sharing short-form content.
