"Short Hair Means Feminist" - 20s Assault Convenience Store Part-Timer in Jinju
Even Customers Trying to Stop Are Assaulted and Property Damaged
A man in his 20s who violently assaulted a female part-time worker and a customer at a convenience store late at night was caught at the scene.
According to the Jinju Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 5th, around 12:10 a.m. on the 4th, Mr. A, who visited a convenience store in Hadae-dong, Jinju City, is suspected of assaulting part-time worker Ms. B by punching and kicking her.
He is also accused of damaging Ms. B’s mobile phone and breaking store property such as chairs inside the convenience store.
Mr. A also violently assaulted Mr. C, a male customer in his 50s who tried to intervene, and struck him with a chair inside the store.
As a result of Mr. A’s assault, Ms. B suffered a sprain and ligament damage in her arm and injuries to her ear, while Mr. C reportedly sustained fractures to his shoulder, forehead, and nose.
Police, who responded following a passerby’s report, arrested Mr. A at the scene on charges of special assault and property damage, and applied for an arrest warrant the next day.
Mr. A, who was intoxicated at the time of the crime, reportedly made remarks to Ms. B such as “Seeing your short hair, you must be a feminist,” and “I am part of a men's solidarity group, but feminists need to be beaten a bit.”

The police secured closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the scene and plan to investigate the specific circumstances after questioning Mr. A and once the victims have recovered.
