View original imageOn the 4th, the Doosan Yeongang Foundation held the '2023 Doosan Yeongang Surgical Science Award' ceremony at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Hong Eun-dong, Seoul, awarding Professor Jongman Kim of the Department of Transplant Surgery at Samsung Seoul Hospital 30 million KRW, and Assistant Professor Jongrae Cho of the Trauma Surgery Department at Dankook University Hospital Regional Trauma Center 10 million KRW along with plaques.
Professor Jongman Kim, the award recipient, demonstrated the donor's safety and the necessity of continuous follow-up after living-donor liver transplantation.
Assistant Professor Jongrae Cho was selected as an awardee for discovering in experimental models that hyaluronic acid film improves pain after anal surgery and promotes wound healing. The hyaluronic acid film is a thin paper-like film made of hyaluronic acid, which promotes tissue regeneration and wound healing.

The Doosan Yeongang Surgical Science Award was established in 2007 to advance Korean surgical science and encourage surgeons' research motivation, and has been awarded to 39 individuals over 17 years up to this year.
