Jeonnam Fire Department Hosts 'Volunteer Fire Brigade Technical Competition'
Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Hong Young-geun) announced on the 3rd that it held the 40th Volunteer Fire Brigade Skills Competition at the Muan-gun Comprehensive Sports Park.
The skills competition is held annually to improve the response capabilities of over 11,000 volunteer firefighters who act as partners of the fire department at disaster sites and to promote mutual friendship.
On the day of the competition, about 4,000 people attended, including Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok, Provincial Council Chairman Seo Dong-wook, Muan County Governor Kim San, fire chiefs from each city and county, and volunteer firefighters.
A total of 88 volunteer firefighters representing 22 cities and counties participated, showcasing their skills in two events (fire hose dragging, fire hose deployment and retrieval).
There was also a time to foster camaraderie and harmony through performances by talent teams, including a speed water spray demonstration by firefighters, a CPR military dance, janggu performance, and Nanta.
Governor Kim Young-rok said, “The volunteer fire brigade is a kind neighbor to the residents and serves as a local safety guardian at various disaster sites. Please join us in making Jeonnam a safer and happier place.”
Governor Kim San stated, “I expect the volunteer firefighters to play a reliable role as guardians protecting the safety of Muan, the capital and platform of Jeonnam, through unity and solidarity.”
