Semiconductor Belt Effect? ... Eight Private Industrial Complex Proposals Concentrated in Yongin
Yongin City Holds Industrial Complex Policy Advisory Committee Meeting
"Assess Suitability and Apply for Allocation from Province"
On the 3rd, Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it held the 'Industrial Complex Policy Advisory Group Meeting' at the city hall conference room on the 31st of last month.
This meeting was held following a private proposal industrial complex demand survey conducted by the city from March to June to strengthen capabilities in advanced industries such as semiconductors. According to the city, the demand survey at that time received 8 letters of intent for industrial complex investments. Among the privately proposed complexes, 3 were advanced industrial complexes and 5 were general industrial complexes.
At the meeting, the city reviewed the feasibility of the letters of intent received. A Yongin city official explained, "With the establishment of the I-dong and Namsa system semiconductor national industrial complexes and the Yongin semiconductor cluster, semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang) companies continue to express their desire to move in."
The policy advisory group is responsible for analyzing the supply plans of industrial complexes in the metropolitan area and pre-evaluating the received industrial complex development projects to propose rational development directions. During this advisory meeting, various opinions were exchanged focusing on ▲site suitability ▲industrial feasibility ▲policy compliance ▲measures to resolve complaints ▲regional economic revitalization ▲carbon neutrality and energy self-sufficiency.

The city plans to analyze whether the submitted industrial complex development proposals align with the city's policies and urban spatial structure, and based on this result, apply to Gyeonggi Province for allocation of industrial complex quotas.
A city official said, "Although the demand for company relocation is increasing and new industrial complex development is necessary, the allocated quota is limited, so industrial complex development must be made more efficient."
Previously, the demand survey conducted by the city targeted industrial complex development projects planned to be promoted in Yongin City's growth management zones from next year until 2026. The target areas include the entire Giheung-gu and Suji-gu districts, as well as I-dong and Namsa-eup, the planned sites for the system semiconductor national industrial complex in Cheoin-gu, and Wonsam-myeon (Moksin, Jukneung, Hakil, Dokseong, Godang, and Munchon-ri), the planned site for the Yongin semiconductor cluster.
