Although bedbugs do not transmit infectious diseases and are therefore not classified as pests under the "Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act," they are pests that disturb sleep by biting humans and cause itching and secondary skin infections.
To check for bedbugs in homes or communal/lodging facilities, one should inspect bed mattresses, sofas, furniture, and wall cracks. Bedbugs tend to feed in the early dawn hours (3 to 4 a.m.), so they are often found during this time.
The city has posted a "Bedbug Prevention and Response Guide" on its official website to help citizens alleviate anxiety about bedbugs and respond quickly and accurately if they are found, allowing for continuous information sharing.
Additionally, the guide is distributed to relevant facilities through district and county public health centers to actively promote bedbug management and control measures.
The main bedbug management and control measures include ▲If bitten by bedbugs, first wash the area with water and soap and consult a doctor or pharmacist for treatment methods and medication prescriptions according to symptoms,
▲Check whether bedbugs are present in the home or communal lodging facilities, ▲Effectively control bedbugs by combining physical control methods (using steam heat, dryers) and chemical control methods (insecticide treatment) centered on the points where bedbugs are found, ▲After control, determine whether to reuse mattresses, furniture, etc., contaminated by bedbugs, ▲If exposed to bedbugs during travel, thoroughly disinfect travel items.
