Yangcheon-gu Allows Kimchi-Making Waste Disposal in 'Volume-Based Waste Bags' Until December
Special Collection Period Operated Until December 31, Dry Vegetables Can Be Disposed Separately in General Volume-Based Waste Bags
Dispose in General Volume-Based Waste Bags of 20ℓ or More with 'Kimjang Waste' Marked on the Outside
Mixed Disposal of Kimjang Waste with General Waste Will Result in Non-Collection and Fines
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that, in preparation for the kimchi-making season, the temporary disposal of kimchi-making waste using general volume-based waste bags (20ℓ) will be allowed until December 31.
Until last year, kimchi-making waste was disposed of using designated bags, but the sales period and locations for these bags were limited, and the cost was higher than that of general volume-based waste bags, making disposal difficult. Therefore, to improve convenience for residents, the district will operate a special collection period this year during which kimchi-making waste can be disposed of in general volume-based waste bags of 20ℓ or larger.
The kimchi-making waste allowed in volume-based waste bags includes uncooked dry vegetables such as napa cabbage, green onions, and garlic. Waste should have moisture and foreign substances removed as much as possible, be chopped finely to reduce volume, and be placed alone in the bag with "Kimchi-making waste" labeled on the outside before disposal.
If kimchi-making waste is mixed with general waste in the volume-based waste bags, collection will not be performed and a fine will be imposed. Cooked vegetables or vegetables with seasoning or moisture must be disposed of using food waste volume-based bags, RFID volume-based bins, or payment certificates.
