November UN Security Council Presidency of China: "Urgent Resolution Needed for Gaza Strip Issue"
Proposal of a 'Two-State Solution' for Palestinian Independence and Coexistence with Israel
China, the chair country of the UN Security Council in November, mentioned the issue of civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, as the most urgent matter for the Security Council to resolve.
Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing on the 2nd, "The situation in the Gaza Strip is the most important issue on the Security Council's agenda this month," adding, "It is an urgent task to promote a ceasefire to prevent civilian casualties, stop disasters, and prevent the escalation of conflict."

He also said, "As the rotating chair of the Security Council, China will respond to the demands of the international community, strengthen coordination with Arab countries, advocate justice, and seek consensus," and added, "We will realize the protection of civilians, easing of tensions, and restoration of the peace process."
Spokesperson Wang Wenbin emphasized that "it is important to bring the Palestinian issue back to the 'two-state solution' track." The two-state solution refers to a plan where Israel and Palestine form separate states and coexist peacefully. It is based on Palestinian independence.

The Security Council consists of five permanent members?the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and Russia?and ten non-permanent members that rotate every two years. These members take turns serving as the rotating chair each month. China, the chair country this month, also announced that the Security Council will review issues related to Syria, Yemen, the Central African Republic, and Somalia.
