On the 26th of last month, a sudden hailstorm caused significant damage to apple farms that were about to harvest. In response, Nonghyup Distribution Hanaro Mart began selling 'Hail-Damaged Apples'?apples affected by hail but with taste and nutrition comparable to normal apples?to ease the burden on the affected farmers.
Among the damaged apples that would otherwise be processed for manufacturing use, apples that have only hail marks but no issues with taste or nutrition are selected and sold at Hanaro Mart. This aims to reduce farmers' losses while offering customers apples at reasonable prices.
The sale of hail-damaged apples starts at Nonghyup Distribution Hanaro Mart Cheongju branch on the same day. They are sold at around 9,000 KRW per 2.5 kg bag. Hanaro Mart Yangjae branch will offer discounted sales starting from the 6th, and Hanaro Mart Changdong branch from the 10th, selling 2 kg bags at around 7,000 KRW. This event will be limited in quantity and sold for about three days at each store.
