Bong Joon-ho's Graduation Short Film 'Jirimyeollyeol' Screened in Tokyo, Japan
Director Bong Joon-ho's short film "Jirimyeollyeol" (1994), created as a graduation project for the 11th class of the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA), will be screened in Tokyo, Japan.
The Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA), established by the Korean Film Council, announced on the 2nd that it will hold a special event in Tokyo, Japan until the 10th to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year.
KAFA, together with Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA) and Image Forum, Japan's largest experimental and art film festival, will hold a 40th anniversary special exhibition and talk programs in Tokyo, the center of K-content enthusiasm. To commemorate its 40th year, KAFA is promoting various programs including the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival’s "KAFA 40th Anniversary Special Exhibition" and documentary production.
This special exhibition includes 14 feature and short films such as Director Bong’s "Jirimyeollyeol," the 39th regular course graduation project "Hole" (directed by Hwang Hye-in), which won 2nd place in the La Cinef section at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and the 15th feature course film "Letter from Kyoto" (directed by Kim Min-ju). Directors Noh Young-mi ("Aaa," 31st regular course) and Bong Joon-young ("Hertz," "Lucky Monster," 32nd regular course) will hold audience talk sessions (GV) locally.
Additionally, KAFA and TUA will hold a dialogue program to explore the role of film schools in Korea and Japan. They will share know-how on nurturing emerging film talents and discuss the role and future of film schools in each country’s film industry.

The KAFA 40th anniversary special exhibition will also be held at the 18th London Korean Film Festival in London, UK, from the 2nd to the 16th. From the 27th to the 8th of next month, the "Korea-France Film Academy" will take place in Paris, France, to facilitate exchanges between emerging Korean and French filmmakers.
