Expecting Expansion of Sales Channels for Farmers with Hanwoo, Apples, Pears, etc.
Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) is conducting the ‘Local is Shinsegae’ campaign to promote the sale of local agricultural and marine products. Established in 1995 as a local corporation in Gwangju, Gwangju Shinsegae has been committed to coexisting with the region for 28 years. The company expects this event to help local farmers and fishermen by introducing excellent local agricultural and marine products to consumers nationwide.
According to Gwangju Shinsegae on the 2nd, from the 3rd, various representative local agricultural and marine products will be sold at the Food Market on the basement first floor of the main building.
At the livestock corner, you can find Haenam organic Korean beef. Sirloin and striploin are priced at 17,800 KRW and 18,800 KRW per 100g respectively, with limited quantities available, and each customer can purchase up to 300g. The organic Korean beef certification requires passing strict conditions such as using organic feed without genetically modified substances and maintaining animal welfare-friendly barn environments.
Fresh dried yellow corvina caught in the clean waters of Jeonnam are available in various sizes of 1.8kg, 1.6kg, and 1.4kg for 20 fish, broadening consumer choices. Yeonggwang premium dried yellow corvina (1.8kg), which is sold for over 100,000 KRW in the market, can be purchased for 84,000 KRW, while the cost-effective imperfect dried yellow corvina (1.3kg) is sold for 19,000 KRW. The imperfect dried yellow corvina has slight blemishes from the manufacturing process but is completely comparable in size and taste.
The ‘Naju pear,’ registered as a geographical indication and a brand in itself, is also included in this event. A pack of two Naju pears can be purchased for 14,000 KRW, cheaper than the market price. Jangseong apples are expected to be popular among cost-conscious consumers at 20,000 KRW per pack of four. Gwangju Shinsegae will sell about 200 limited quantities of Naju pears and Jangseong apples on a first-come, first-served basis at discounted prices to promote their excellence to consumers.
Additionally, this event, which runs until the 9th and may close early if stocks run out, offers Haenam black barley (4,500 KRW/1kg), Gangjin oats (4,500 KRW/400g), and Muan cabbage (7,900 KRW/each).
Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “We planned this local agricultural and marine product sales event to introduce excellent products produced in our region to consumers. We hope this event, held simultaneously at Gwangju Shinsegae and Shinsegae Department Store’s Gangnam, Main, and Centum City branches, will help local farmers and fishermen secure sales channels.”
