On the 1st, Nexon announced that the 'Seoul National University Hospital Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center,' established with a 10 billion KRW donation from the Nexon Foundation, has officially opened.
Operated by Seoul National University Hospital, the 'Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center' is Korea's first independent short-term medical care center providing comprehensive medical and caregiving services to severely ill pediatric patients and their families who require 24-hour care. It serves as a place for rest and rejuvenation for patients and families enduring difficult days due to illness and caregiving.
Located in Wonnam-dong near Seoul National University Hospital in Yeongeon-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, the center was built with a total floor area of 997㎡ (302 pyeong), consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors, with 16 beds. Patients can stay for up to 7 nights and 8 days per admission, with a maximum of 20 days annually. The facility includes 24-hour on-site medical care, various play program facilities, family counseling spaces, and more.
The 'Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center' was selected as an implementing institution for the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 'Severe Pediatric Short-term Admission Service Pilot Project.' According to the pilot project guidelines, patients covered by health insurance only pay 5% of the cost themselves.
At the opening ceremony held that day, key figures including Minister Cho Kyu-hong of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Director Kim Young-tae of Seoul National University Hospital, Chairman Kim Jung-wook of the Nexon Foundation, CEO Lee Jae-kyo of NXC, and CEO Lee Jung-heon of Nexon Korea attended to celebrate the first step of Korea's inaugural short-term medical care service.
Chairman Kim Jung-wook of the Nexon Foundation said, "We hope the center's opening will become a strong support for severely ill children nationwide and families exhausted from ongoing caregiving," adding, "We will continue to sincerely support children and families in medical blind spots, who are the future of our society."
Director Kim Young-tae of Seoul National University Hospital stated, "Through the opening of the Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center, we expect that severely ill pediatric and adolescent patients and their families, who have faced many difficulties due to the lack of medical care facilities, will have opportunities for rest and recharging." He added, "Seoul National University Hospital, as a national central hospital, will do its best to strengthen holistic treatment for pediatric and adolescent patients and medical services for severe diseases through the operation of the Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center, and to broaden the horizon of public healthcare."
The nickname for the 'Nexon Children's Integrated Care Center' was chosen as 'Dotori House' through an internal contest among Nexon employees. In addition to the establishment fund donation, Nexon also donated 85 million KRW raised through an employee participation fundraising event to Seoul National University Hospital as an operating fund for the center.
Meanwhile, based on a deep interest in the healthy future of children, Nexon and the Nexon Foundation donated funds in 2013 for the establishment of Korea's first children's rehabilitation hospital, the 'Purme Foundation Nexon Children's Rehabilitation Hospital,' and supported the nation's first public children's rehabilitation hospital, the 'Daejeon Sejong Chungnam Nexon-Sponsored Public Children's Rehabilitation Hospital,' both of which have been completed and opened.
