Democratic Party Launches General Election Planning Team... Cho Jung-sik Appointed as Head and Secretary-General
The Democratic Party of Korea launched the General Election Planning Team, which will oversee preparations for the general election in April next year, on the 1st.
After the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Chief Spokesperson Kwon Chil-seung told reporters, "Cho Jung-sik, the Secretary-General, will serve as the head of the General Election Planning Team," adding, "The team will present the direction for political innovation that the Democratic Party must take responsibility for in the 22nd National Assembly."
On the same day, the party approved the formation of the General Election Planning Team with a total of 13 members, including the head. According to party rules, the team can have up to 15 members, so the remaining two members will be appointed later.
The members include current lawmakers such as Jeong Tae-ho, head of the Democratic Research Institute; Kim Seong-joo, senior deputy chairman of the Policy Committee; Han Byung-do, chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee; Kim Byung-gi, senior deputy secretary-general; Lee Jae-jung, chairwoman of the National Women's Committee; Jeon Yong-gi, chairman of the National Youth Committee; and proportional representative lawmaker Shin Hyun-young. Chairman Han will serve as the secretary.
Among the non-incumbent members are Choi Taek-yong, regional chairman of Busan Gijang-gun; Park Young-hoon, vice chairman of the Youth Future Council; Jang Hyun-joo, planning committee member of the Seoul Bar Association; and Jang Yun-mi, lawyer at Meta Law Firm.
Four women are included, and five members (including women) represent the youth.

When asked whether there are many pro-Myeong faction members in the General Election Planning Team, Chief Spokesperson Kwon responded, "Basically, a significant number of members are involved in related tasks."
