False Reports in Broadcast Investigative Program
Seung Mo, a North Korean defector woman accused of falsely reporting sexual violence allegations against a famous defector writer, will face trial.
The Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Seong-min) announced on the 31st that Seung was indicted without detention on the charge of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation) on the 27th.
Seung is accused of falsely reporting allegations of sexual violence and coercion of sexual bribery by defector writer Jang on MBC's program 'Exploratory Planning Straight,' which led to the broadcast of the second episode.
In addition, Seung is accused of repeatedly posting the allegations on social media in November 2020, damaging Jang's reputation.

According to the prosecution, from December 2021 to February of the following year, Seung threatened another victim, Jeon Mo, by saying she would reveal their relationship to her family. Jang and Jeon filed a complaint against Seung at the Mapo Police Station in Seoul in January 2021, and after two supplementary investigations, the police sent her to the prosecution last month.
